The non-life insurance industry reported a strong June 2026, with Gross Direct Premium Income (GDPI) growing 15.9% year-on-year to Rs 24,195 crore. This represents the highest monthly growth rate in five months, signalling robust demand across segments.
Segment Breakdown: General insurers (public + private) grew 14.3%, while Standalone Health Insurers (SAHIs) posted an impressive 30.9% growth. The health segment continues to lead growth, driven by the GST exemption and rising awareness. Motor insurance maintained steady growth on the back of increasing vehicle sales and TP premium revisions.
